VFX: effects at timeline markers

ROKLIM VFX places an adjustment clip with your Fusion macro at every timeline marker of a chosen colour in DaVinci Resolve. Drop a marker, get the effect.

VFX adds effects where you put markers. At every timeline marker of a chosen colour it places an adjustment clip with your Fusion macro — a zoom, a shake, a flash — so the effect applies to everything below it.

Before you start

VFX needs one Adjustment Clip in the Media Pool: in Resolve, Effects → Adjustment Clip, drag it into the Media Pool.

Marker colour → effect

  1. In Resolve add markers on the timeline (key M) and give them colours.
  2. In the VFX window each row is a marker colour and its effect: pick the marker colour in the row's first list, then a .setting effect. + Add color adds a row, ✕ removes one; markers of colours without a row are skipped. A row shows only the effect name; click into it to see or change the full path. Local opens your effects folder as a catalog with previews.
  3. The adjustment clip is painted in the colour of the row's second list — SFX can put a sound on it.
  4. Len Auto makes the clip as long as the effect's animation; untick it to type the length in frames.
  5. Target track is the video track for the adjustment clips. Apply mode sets where the animation sits inside each clip: from its start, in the centre, or ending at its end.
  6. Only markers between the I and O marks of the timeline are used (ROKLIM reads them by itself); no marks = the whole timeline.
  7. Press RUN.

Place one effect by hand

In the catalog, Place on timeline puts an adjustment clip with that effect at the playhead, on the first free track from the Target track up. Pick puts the effect into the colour row you opened the catalog from.
